Pilgrimage to Ein Kerem
The picturesque neighborhood of Ein Kerem nestles between the hills southwest of Jerusalem. According to Christian tradition, Ein Kerem is the birthplace of John the Baptist, hence Ein Kerem's attractivity to Christian pilgrims. I was strolling along the narrow alleys, impressed by the proliferation of churches and monasteries, I was happy to see the great number of tourists who visit, and touched by the apparent excitement of the pilgrims. I enjoyed the tranquility and drifted into the neighborhood's special atmosphere. I visited Ein Kerem in the months March and April 2008.
