Hiking in the clouds and raindrops on Senja Island
Senja Island is in northwestern Norway, north of the Arctic Circle. On days with good visibility, you can marvel at dramatic views of towering boulders jutting out into fjords and green grass. However, on our short visit we only had a few hours of good visibility. The low clouds and drizzle obscured the views and frustrated me. In July-August 2026, I met wonderful people, ate a mouthful of juicy blueberries, enjoyed a hot sauna, and was delighted when a ray of sunshine suddenly appeared.
