The Orthodox Epiphany Ceremony in the Jordan River
The Christian Church celebrates the revelation of Jesus as Christ. Eastern Christians commemorate the baptism of Jesus in the Jordan River, seen as his manifestation to the world as the Son of God. Every year, thousands of Orthodox pilgrims flock to the Baptismal Site Qasir al-Yahud on the Jordan River, north of the Dead Sea, Israel, and conduct Baptism. I attended the Greek-Orthodox ceremony on January 18, 2012.
